Advanced Display Controls: Points of Interest
Through using Points of Interest (POI) users can search for relevant terms to retrieve locations from Google’s API, to display with an Active Network. This can be quite handy when one does not have a readily available network to display as a Passive Network. A common use case for this can be to display locations which are either attractors (i.e. ‘cafes‘ for a book shop) or detractors (i.e. competitors) for a retail network.
Each POI search has a limit of retrieving the closest 60 POIs to a selected location.
To know how many searches you have available the indicator “POI Searches Remaining” counts down after each search term is entered.
Points of Interest - Step by Step
To load an individual search:
Click on the location to perform the POI search on.
Click on “Search Points of Interest” underneath “Display Controls”.
Type the relevant search terms into “Enter Keyword” and press enter. Users can perform 10 separate searches at a time per location.
Customise the POI Icons by clicking on the particular POI’s Icon. Users can choose an Icon of their choice and size.
Find the number of Icons within the location’s Trade Areas by clicking on “Location Summary”. This will provide a count for each POI search by the Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Trade Areas.
Save/Load Search Terms on a Location
If users need to perform the same POI search for multiple locations, users can Save all search terms as a reusable search for future locations.
Search all the relevant terms to replicate.
Select “Save Search”, provide a name for the set of search terms. This set of search terms can now be used on any location.
Click the next location to perform the search on. Again select “Search Points of Interest” under “Display Controls”.
Select “Load Search”, find the set of search terms saved and hit “Select”
