My Audience Library

My Audience Library offers users a fast method to creating audiences whilst performing other tasks within the explorer. This tool is preferable if an Audience needs to be created quickly for mapping or reports, or when users don’t wish to lose their current progress performing other analyses within the explorer.

Creating an Audience through My Audience Library is the same as the “1. Select Audience(s)” tab in Audience Finder. After creating an Audience users can copy them across to Audience Finder to create a report.

Creating Audience in My Audience Library

Creating an Audience:

  1. Select the user name drop down in the top right bar menu.

  2. Select “My Audience Library”, a pop up will appear of the Audience Library

  3. Click “Create New Definition

  4. Fill in the values in the Audience Builder pop up:

    1. 1. Audience Name Name the Audience

    2. 2. Audience Source” Select “Build Audience from RDA’s Synpop

    3. 3. Define Audience” Define the Audience, see example case below on how to achieve this.

      Example - Creating New Audience:

Build an audience to find 30 - 35 year olds who have 3 people living in their household.

      • 30 - 35 year olds: First select “Personal Demographics” (as this is about people), then in the right hand side look for “Age”. Users will be presented with two drop downs, on the Left drop down select “30”, on the right drop down select “34” (as the range is from 30 to 35 years old).

      • 3 people living in household: To find the amount of people living with them in their household, Select “Household Demographics” then search for “Persons in Household” and check on “3 persons”.

Note: Users can use the “Search for Audience” button to search for particular variables. After clicking on “Search for Audience”, type in the variable name and hit enter.

5. Optional - Toggle on or off “Load Audience Directly to Custom Data” if users wish to use the Audience immediately within Explorer. Likewise, toggle on or off “Share Audience with Company” if the Audience is needed for other users within the company.

6. Click “Save Definition” in bottom right

7. Close out of the Audience Builder.

Note: When creating an audience it is recommended not to use too many conditions when defining the audience. This is as the select audience may become too insignificant to analyse effectively. It is usually recommended to set as a maximum 4-5 variable banks within the one Audience Group and to ensure the created Audience makes up more than 1% of the Australian population.
